Covid-19 is disrupting our UK ports

With the on going Covid-19 situation our UK ports are struggling with longer turnaround times. This has created a damaging cycle of congestion and compounded delays.

This congestion has arisen from the ports and depots introducing social distancing which has seen a reduction in staff and more time being allocated to disinfecting machinery. This has caused operations to slow down at the port and caused a longer turnaround time which has lead to incomplete activities and service failures.

UK ports have started to see an ease with vehicle bookings slots thanks to the hard work of the staff. The staff reduction had caused a knock on effect with the hauliers who were not able to get the prime desired slots for the day as they were booked up well in advance.
