New surcharge for ETS or EMS

All shipping lines, consolidators and freight carriers (such as RORO Vessel operators) will implement a surcharge for ETS or EMS on ocean freight shipments with some of them having implemented this surcharge already from the 1^stJanuary 2024.

KTL are actively monitoring the levels of charges which vary in amount and currency depending on the origin, destination and carrier. On average we expect the quantum to be around GBP25 per TEU/GBP50 per FEU but this does appear to vary depending on the criteria.

This additional surcharge in addition to current rate hikes, GRI and the situation in the Red Sea adds yet more woe for importers in the UK and EU.
