Due to the current political uncertainty and until we get more clarity from Government, KTL Europe is still planning for a no-deal Brexit.

The UK’s future trading relationship with the EU is still unclear, and the possibility that the UK will leave the EU without having ratified a withdrawal agreement remains, this is otherwise known as a no-deal Brexit.  Under the terms of a no-deal Brexit, the UK will trade as a 3rd country with the EU; this will affect traders, importers, exporters and logistics providers.

The European Commission have stated in the event of a no-deal it will go straight to hard-borders.

If there is a deal, there will be a transition period until the end of 2020, during which nothing should change for UK Hauliers / Trucking

We are working with several UK customs agent who will be able to arrange export customs declarations and documentation for the UK, and import customs clearances and documentation into the UK from the EU, and have EU customs agents who will handle out EU customs formalities (from the goods entry into the relevant EU port, through  to their final destination).

To enable KTL to arrange clearance on your behalf we will require completed direct representation form completed along with a Commercial invoice and packing list, the commercial invoice should contain the following information:

  • EORI Number – you can register/obtain one from this page: https://www.gov.uk/eori
  • DAN (Deferment Account) Number and letter with permission to use it.
  • Full Name and Address of Exporter and Importer, along with VAT no where applicable.
  • Incoterms – Terms of Sale
  • Origin of Goods
  • Customs Commodity Code, also know as tariff code or HS Code.
  • Full Detailed Description of Goods
  • Number of Items and Packing – I.E – 20 Cartons on 1 Pallet
  • Gross and Nett Weight of Goods
  • Commercial Value and Currency
  • Any Licences required or Certificates that apply

It should also be taken into consideration that ISPM15 wood packing requirements could be triggered, and all packing of wood including pallets, cases and dunnage (wood used to secure goods in transit) should be treated and carry relevant certification.

TSP – Transitional Simplified Procedures – Have you considered applying for HMRC TSP clearance process? More information can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/register-for-simplified-import-procedures-if-the-uk-leaves-the-eu-without-a-deal
